Top 5 Tips for Marquee Styling

If a unique and personalised wedding is something you have been dreaming about, look no further then a marquee. They give you the freedom to create a space that is totally your own and screams individuality. Here at Ivory Lane we love a good marquee wedding and have put our creative brains together to come up with our top 5 tips for styling a marquee (we are partial to our Oyster Twin Pole Event Tent).

1. Location, Location, Location.
One of the main attractions for a marquee wedding is it brings the outside in. Sitting underneath our translucent Event tent, letting soft light in through the afternoon and a romanic and enchanted glow at night. It becomes easy to move to and from your outdoor spaces, looking over the picturesque view that has become the backdrop with such ease.

2. Be Certain Of Your Style Choice.
With a world full of Pinterest, Instagram and Bridal blogs choosing just one style for your wedding can become very overwhelming. Consider your location and where  you have chosen to place your marquee. Are you by the beach, or in the rolling hinterlands of Byron Bay, or in the rural country side of NSW? This will help play a huge role in the style direction you choose to go. Also think about your own personal style, you want people to walk into a space and just know this event was made for you.  Are you a 'less is more' type of person or do you have a flare for the dramatic? These are all questions you can ask yourself and your stylist when deciding on that perfect style
.

3. Use Your Entire Space.
The beauty of a Marquee wedding is you are not limited to one room, don't be confined to the walls of your marquee. Take your guest on a journey from your ceremony, to an outdoor oasis, then onto your reception. They will mingle between the spaces with ease by making sure your style flows between the two. This will also help with the build up guest will experience upon walking into your marquee. Give them just a little glimpse at each location in the build up to the formalities of the reception and set the tone for your day/evening .

4. Lighting.
Once the afternoon sun goes down and the stars are out using lighting to create a style statement is a great way to enhance your guests experience. Here at Ivory Lane we have created and designed many different lighting options to suit each couple's style.  While your overall style will give your guests a sense of who you are, lighting will set a completely different mood and ambience all together and help elevate your reception style.

Fairy lights: Create a warm and decorative glow for the hopeless romantic.

Festoon Lights: Give a fun, brighter, festival feel for the young couple looking to show their guest a great time with the formalities kept to a minimal.

Chandelier/Pendant Lighting: Is a classic statement in your ceiling. If you a limited with space on your tables this may be the way you can give the effect you are after without cluttering your tables.

5. Furniture.
This all needs to follow on with your theme as well as reflect your surroundings. The choice of chair can transform your space completely, darker colours can create a more moody, romantic vibe while lighter colours create a funner brighter way to bring light to your marquee.
Knowing where to spend your money is probably one of the most important pieces of advice we provide our clients. If a statement bridal table and simple guest chairs grabs your eye invest in your bridal table chairs.
Don't undervalue the finer details of a table setting as these are can really complete the look and feel. Our tip for reception furniture would be beautiful chairs and an amazing hanging installation.
